Originally the game was released for the PlayStation 2 back in 2002 by Square Enix and the Disney Interactive Studios. Kingdom Hearts is the firsts game in the Kingdom Hearts franchise and over the year has grown immensely in popularity. Since Kingdom Hearts isn't only made with SE properties but also Disney, in order to port the game to the PC, they would likely need to require the Disney licensed content, since I'm going to assume the license ran out, they'd need to renew it.ĭisney cost it, and in all honesty the 500 k - 1 million sales the PC game might generate probably aren't even worth it for the cost associated with the license.Īs for Kingdom Hearts three, baring any type of exclusive agreement with Sony, KH could very well get released on the PC. There are many fantasy games out there but one of the better known one is the Kingdom Hearts ISO. I think the original two games were released when the PC was still kinda going through the motions and most developers thought PC gaming was going to die out. Unless Sony paid SE extra cash, I really doubt they care about stealing sales away from Sony, since either way the case goes into their pockets.

As well as the added development time it might take away from KH3 Actually it's because they don't want to steal sales away from the PS4 versions of KH3 not licensing. Where as going back and reaquiring the license would be costly. It's different when they release a new game, they are already acquiring the license, so adding PC into the mix isn't likely to alter or change the price much.

Likely because that would require them to reacquire the disney licenses and pay full price to release the games on the PC in the hopes they would sell well enough to warrent the price. Our basic thought for Japanese development studios and for our Western development studios like Eidos Montreal we’ve got games being made in London at Crystal Dynamics, we all basically follow the idea that we want people everywhere around the word to enjoy our games, so the basic policy is that we want to have all our games on every platform available as far as possible. There is definitely that variation between different regions, that is true. “Other hardware” is not limited to the Nintendo switch, and we will consider all of them after the release of the PS4 and Xbox one versions.” - Tetsuya Nomura “They misinterpreted the word ‘considering’ as to “it is possible to release” and it spread out.
